Marttiini - The Sharpest choice since 1928

At Marttiini, experience in production, professional skills and firm handicraft traditions that have been refined over the course of generations, are combined with carefully chosen materials, contemporary technology, computer aided design and afficient serial production.

As result of open-minded solutions, a knife that is correctly maintaned will serve its master during the latter´s entire lifetime. The sharpness of Marttiini-knives is world-famous.

The Marttiini Knife Factory is no doubt one of the leading manufacturers of quality  fishing and hunting knives. Janne Marttiini was a blacksmith in a small country village,  Kierinki, in Northern Finland back in 1902, making scythes, axes, small tools and handmade knives.

He founded his own smithy in 1928 situated at Rovaniemi and developed excellent models and methods of making knives. Demand for these strong and good knives increased continually during the 1930’s and Janne Marttiini was able to support his big family by making the knives.

In 1940 a factory was built, which was partly destroyed during the war in 1944, but later rebuilt in the middle of Rovaniemi. It has now been restored and is now called Marttiini´s Old Factory. Marttiini Factory Shop is located in this building.

Due to steady growth of export business, it became necessary to enlarge the facilities. In 1972 a new, modern plant was constructed. the factory is still working in these facilities.

Today Marttiini produces over 300 different kind of knives, ranging from the original Lynx knife, as made by Janne Marttiini, to the very latest designs in technology and raw material. The Marttiini product assortment covers knives for hunting, fishing, camping, collectors, household and professional use.

The manufacturing process still retains the handmade traditional features of the past, whilst now incorporating efficient product research and modern development. A daily production is approx. 5000 knives, ensuring the possibilities for the large deliveries to the countries all over the world, e.g. USA, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, The Scandinavian countries as well as Australia. The international, as well as the domestic knife market is very strongly competed.

The absolutely high quality, the long experience, the tradition, the special knowhow in knife production combined with the strong and efficient product research and development are Marttiini’s competitive advantages in the knife business.
